Internal Family Systems Therapy

Give voice to your parts so you can REclaim, reconnect and restore your silenced parts

Your Experience

You are capable, organized and reliable. People see you as put together and dependable. But your internal experience feels different. Inside, you feel anxiety or numb or both.

For example, when your boss, family member, neighbor asks something of you, your high-functioning part takes over, and you know you can get the ask done. But the struggle within you is palpable.

Whether it’s the tug of war between exhaustion and “I have to say yes” or the push-pull of “what they want” versus “what I want,” you can feel it in your stomach, muscles and head. A tightening and contraction and/or a blanking and numbness.

Your Parts

These thoughts, feelings and physical experiences are coming from parts of you that have taken on roles of survival. To your parts, these are strategies, defenses and coping mechanisms to make sure that you make it through the next few moments without conflict or harm.

Using IFS

Using IFS (Internal Family Systems), we can be curious with these parts.

By giving them attention, we give them their voice. When we hear their voice, we gain clarity and understand their intentions. When they feel understood and validated, they often soften back.

As these parts soften back, you gain more access to the lost parts of your system. This softening gives you the opportunity to reconnect with, understand and relate differently to your internal system, allowing for a shift towards harmony and restoring balance within and in your life.

Reclaim lost parts of yourself and find internal balance

Internal Family Systems

Free the self

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a shift from talk therapy, allowing for deeper exploration. By focusing on your thoughts, feelings and physical sensations, IFS helps you better understand why sometimes the feeling in your stomach becomes all-consuming; or where the guilty feeling comes from; or why you feel undeserving and at the same time know that you are worthy.

With patience, respect and openness, I will guide you in getting to know your parts that hold those beliefs, perceptions and burdens. By understanding your parts, you can gain clarity, calm and space within you. This gives you access to your inherent capacity to heal and in this healing space, together, you and I will help your parts release their burdens and pain and restore balance and empowerment within.

Let’s work together

Jennie Basarich, LMFT

As a Level 3 IFS trained Therapist, I love helping people who are curious, want to know more about themselves and are open to looking within to find their answers. In our sessions, I will hold gentle space for you to turn your attention inward and together we will befriend your parts and gain clarity about your feelings, choices and experiences.

I view internal work as a process of self-discovery that when given time and space, can bring awarenes to the unseen and clarity to the misunderstood.
